Christina Applegate might be known for her many TV and movie roles. However, her most notable achievement is beating cancer, which she was diagnosed with at the height of her career in 2008.

Christina battled for a while and finally managed to beat the disease. However, she did not do it alone. She had her friends and family by her side throughout her battle. One person, in particular, became her rock.

The actress and her friend of 13 years, Martyn LeNoble, had just begun dating in 2008 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The news shocked Christina and was frightening as she had witnessed her mother battle the same disease.

Although it was difficult for Christina, she admitted that she did her best to embrace all the changes happening in her life and accept her physical attributes being altered. She said she put on a happy face for everyone around her, but Martyn helped a lot. She said:

"He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about."

Christina often mentioned how grateful she was to have Martyn by her side throughout her illness. Eventually, with Martyn by her side, she was able to beat cancer in August 2008, the same year she was diagnosed.

How Did Christina Become a Wife, Stepmother, and Mother?

Christina and Martyn dated for two years after she was declared free of cancer, and on Valentine's Day, 2010, the couple was engaged. It was to be the second marriage for both Martyn and Christina.

Three years later, in February 2013, Christina and Martyn finally tied the knot. By that time, they had welcomed a daughter, who was two at the time of the wedding. The ceremony was attended by only close friends and family at their home in Los Angeles.

Neil Lane designed the couple's rings, and Christina's dress was a Maria Lucia Hohan creation. Along with their shared daughter, Sadie Grace, Martyn also brought a child from a previous marriage into the family.

Martyn is a father to Marlon from his previous marriage. Christina had no children before she and Martyn had Sadie Grace, but she is a doting mother and stepmother to both Sadie Grace and Marlon.

How Did Christina End Up In a Wheelchair?

In August 2021, Christina took to Twitter to announce that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease that affects the protective covering of the nerves. She mentioned that she felt supported by others who were facing the same battle.

More than a year later, in October 2022, Christina once again took to Twitter to announce that she was going out in public for the first time since being diagnosed with MS. She then showed off some walking sticks she would use to help her get around.

While she could initially walk with a cane, she began finding it difficult to move around for long periods or in extreme temperatures without her body giving out. She has since begun using a wheelchair.
