ESPN's Holly Rowe's ESPN Career, Cancer, Husband Queries & Son
American Emmy-nominated sports telecaster Holly Rowe, who earned her recognition as a sideline reporter for college football games on ESPN, is a proud mother of a grown-up son named McKylin Rowe.
Her son McKylin is an aspiring actor and writer who has shown his acting prowess in various TV shows and short films, including The Egos, Existential Mashed Potatoes, Brotherly Love, The Holidays, and Revealing Cards.
However, fans are still curious to learn the whereabouts of Holly's husband and McKylin's father.
In this article, read our exclusive coverage on Holly Rowe and check your knowledge on what you know about the ESPN reporter's personal life, including details of her son, and marital status. Also, we have also covered her renewed CNN contract and her cancer battle.
What happened to Holly Rowe in her Cancer Battle?
Having been diagnosed with severe but rare melanoma (stage 3) in 2015 on her chest, Rowe understood that she had to accept the condition as part of her job since her job requires her to spend most of the time outside.
She later went public about her condition and the subsequent surgery in 2016. In 2017, she also revealed to the Associated Press that her cancer had returned and she was up for treatment.
This just popped up and really made me cry.
5 years ago…I had no idea what life would hold for me.
If life would hold for me with Stage 4 cancer.
SO very grateful to be alive. Let’s ALL give ourselves more love for fighting through tough times. I need to do that more! pic.twitter.com/2J53mtlQ9c — Holly Rowe (@sportsiren) February 4, 2023
And as someone who has been passionate about her job, she has been working between her treatments with only a little time to rest. She says:
I was in such a dark place, because I ended up with inoperable tumors in my lung, which is normally a deadly situation, and I was really lucky to get on immunotherapy. I knew that I was in trouble, and I was in a deadly situation. And I just thought, if I stop working and sit on my couch, that might kill me even faster. I just didn't feel like I was the type of person that could put my life on hold, because then I'm not really living. So, I set little goals for myself: “Okay, after this surgery I’ll be back in time for the big 12 basketball tournament, so I get to cover Kansas basketball and Texas basketball. I’ll be back for the draft so I can be there when Brianna Stewart goes number one, because I've covered her since she was 18 years old.” I think it helped get me through my cancer, because I wasn't sitting around feeling sorry for myself and only obsessing about that. I feel like living with a little bit of purpose and joy helped me.
The experience taught her the importance of sunscreen, which she now preaches to everyone.
Who is Holly Rowe's Husband?
Speaking of family, many of her fans are still unaware if she ever got married or had a husband. That’s because she has hardly spoken about her personal life in public.
However, the presence of her son signals that she was, at least, either in a relationship with a partner or was married to a spouse in the past. But again, there has been confusion regarding her married life as she has not delved into the details of her love life.
Speculations about her divorce from her husband have had their fair share in the gossip columns. Despite plenty of interest to grasp her married life and husband's identity, she has not flinched an inch and is reluctant to discuss her married life in public.
Until she decides the time is right to front up the media and open up about her husband’s rumors, the rumor mills will keep on grinding. Meanwhile, we need to not believe in the speculations until the truth unveils.
Holly Rowe is her Son Biggest Supporter
The mother-son duo shares a very close bond — and they often share candid and special moments through social media, especially Instagram.
On June 18, 2021, McKylin took to his Instagram to share an adorable picture of him and his mother, Holly. The post was made for Holly's birthday.
In March 2015, McKylin was acting in plays during his college days, and Holly watched her son's performance in his college musical Cinderella.
Later, Holly shared the proud moment on Twitter, stating that her son had been cast as “Prince Charming” and congratulated him on his excellent work.
