Tik Tok singer says mum is her song-writing inspiration

TIK Tok singer Ke$ha has revealed that her secret song-writing weapon is her MUM.

The hottest new pop star to emerge from the States is tipped to be one of the biggest artists in the UK in 2010, when her debut album, Animal, is released in April.

Ke$ha's single Tik Tok stormed the UK charts and prior to that she sang on Flo Rida's smash hit Right Round, starred in the video for Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl and also featured on Britney Spears's track Lace And Leather.

She is being mentored by producer/ songwriter Lukasz "Dr Luke" Gottwald, who signed the singer to RCA and is the brains behind Katy Perry's hits, as well as producing chart toppers by Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne.

But Ke$ha, real name Kesha Rose Sebart, says she is still closer to her mum, songwriter Pebe Sebart, than her pop collaborators.

Shesaid:"My mum's an amazing songwriter.

She wrote country songs but also wrote on a handful of songs for my record. We still write together. She also wrote on the Miley Cyrus songs for her album and she wrote the Dolly Parton hit (Old Flames) Can't Hold A Candle To You."

Ke$ha is already following in her mum's footsteps. As well as writing and co-writing the tracks on her own album, she is in big demand from other artists.

She said: "I have written for a lot of people but the ones that have meant anything were for Miley Cyrus on The Time Of Our Lives.

"I wrote This Love for The Veronicas and a song for 3OH!3 which we did together. I have also written a song for Mickey Avalon which is very dirty and raunchy."

Ke$ha's single Tik Tok has remained in the charts since its release in October, nestling alongside singles by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, but she claims she offers something completely different.

She said:"I'm friends with Katy, or I was back in the day. I've not seen her for a while. There's a friendship there but musically what I am bringing to the table is different.

"I hope that's why people are attracted to it. With new artists, people don't know who you are so it is hard to make them care. I am hopefully mashing up a few different styles that haven't been heard together before."

Among her dubious claims to fame are breaking into Prince's home to give him a demo CD, throwing up in Paris Hilton's toilet and turning up at a P. Diddy party dressed in a bin bag. Andshe admits she was still penniless months after her million-selling hit Right Round with Flo Rida.

"It was an accident I was even on the track," Ke$ha said. "I didn't make any money off it, that's why I put the dollar sign in my name as a joke.

"But I was happy singing in bars, wearing clothes I found in the garbage and surrounded by people who love me."
